The other half of the day is yours to go explore by yourself.
Sights that can be included:
- Bahia Palace
- El Badi Palace
- Mellah and Jewish cemetery
- Saadian tombs
- Le Jardin Secret
- Medersa Ben Youssef (closed until Oct. 2020)
Day 2
You will leave Marrakech at 8 am in the morning and drive towards the coast. Once you arrive in Essaouira you can get an introduction to the city on a guided tour (2 hours, optional, additional fee). This includes the medina and the harbour area.
Afterwards you will have plenty of time to enjoy some lunch (head to the fish market for some fresh seafood!) and go explore the Medina. It is small enough to not get lost and very safe. You can shop without the hassle of Marrakech, also the prices here are much better. The town is known for selling the best Argan oil and Amlou (the Moroccan Nutella), so make sure to stock up on these here. You can also find lots of artisanal woodwork here as well as the famous Moroccan carpets.
Finish the day at the beach watching the surfers catch waves or on one of the roof-top bars in the medina.
Day 3
After the drive to Casablanca, your driver will drop you off at the Mosque Hassan II. Here you can enjoy a tour (not included) or just stroll around the surrounding areas. It is a photographer’s paradise, so bring your phone or camera!
Head to the famous Rick’s Café for lunch (not included) and feel yourself transported into the movie “Casablanca”.
Your driver will pick you up after lunch and you will continue on to Rabat.
You will have time to explore the medina, the Kasbah des Oudayas and the Hassan tower in the afternoon.
Enjoy some fresh seafood for dinner, if you like and head to the light house for the sunset.
Day 4
Your first stop of today is Volubilis, where you can choose to hire a guide or explore on your own. The walk around the whole area takes about 1 hour.
From here you will continue to Meknes, where you will have lunch (not included). Afterwards you will meet your guide for a 2 hour tour of the medina, which is listed as UNESCO world heritage. You can admire the famous Bab Mansour, the former imperial stables and the Mausoleum Moulay Ismail. After the tour you can visit the Madrasa Bou Inania, the most impressive building of Meknes.
You will continue to Fez in the evening.
Day 5
Your licensed guide will pick you up either in the morning or after lunch and spend around 4 hours showing you around the beautiful city of Fez. According to your interests the tour will focus on architecture, culture or shopping. He can take you to the main sights (entrance fees not included) and tell you everything there is to know to really appreciate the visit or walk with you through the different souks if that is your focus. The other half of the day is yours to go explore by yourself.
Sights that can be included in the tour:
- View of the famous tanneries
- Mauseoleum Moulay Idriss (entrance only for Muslims)
- Madrasa Bou Inania
- Bab Bou jeloud (the blue gate)
- Dar Batha Museum
- Medersa Al Attarine
- Funduq al Najjarine (Museum of woodwork)
- Library of the Karaouine University
- Jardin Bou Jeloud
Day 6
You will leave Fez in the morning and drive towards into the mountains. Your first stop is a pretty waterfall near Seffrou. After some photos and maybe a refreshing shower, you will head into town. You can walk around the small medina with its market full of fresh produce. Before getting back into the car, enjoy a glass of fresh mint tea and watch the bustle of the town.
From here you will head higher into the mountains with the famous cedar forests. There are multiple places to stop and see the native barbary monkeys. If you like you can buy some peanuts from the locals to feed to them.
The next stop is the town of Azrou for lunch. In the afternoon your driver will drop you in Ifrane, a skiing resort with resemblance of Switzerland. Take a walk around and visit the Lion that was carved from stone by a German prisoner of war in the 1930s.
Return to Fez in time for dinner.
Day 7
On the way back to Marrakech we will stop in Ouzoud to visit the waterfalls in the afternoon! They are one of the most popular attractions in the foothills of the High Atlas.
The waterfalls are around 110 m high and most spectacular in the spring when the snow is melting and it has rained.
The little town of Ouzoud offers little beyond a few cafés, but the walk down to the base of the cascades is spectacular. You can go for a boat ride but be prepared to get a little wet if you do. Also, you can go for a swim, so pack your bathing suit!
You will have lunch with a view of the falls, and there are plenty of little shops offering you a cold drink on the way back up.
We will head back to Marrakech in the late afternoon.
